In an effort to extend the reaches of
starfleet computers, programmers have developed LCARS 2000. This system
is like it's predecessor, yet more capable and dangerous. It is still only
in pre-testing status and has only been tested but secret starfleet
intelligence sections. The reason this system was so heavily guarded was
because LCARS 2000 has artificial intelligence. Though there is a major
glitch in the system, it is too self aware. As soon as someone tries to
perform a task on it, the system does something else. LCARS 2000 actually
destroyed a computer lab on a star base and then all the systems were destroyed.
When starfleet programmers developed the "Ship in a Bottle" Software, they
based it on LCARS 2000. The SIAB software was labeled a success ,unlike
it counterpart, and installed in the USS ARKANGEL. Programmers were ordered
to develop more of the software but they were killed first. An assassin
entered the development lab and murdered all the programmers. The chief
of development for the project, Admiral Vespar ordered the software un-installed
from the ARKANGEL. The systems were cleared of SIAB and downloaded back
onto a data clip which Vespar took. Vespar was later attacked, the data
clip stolen and the ARKANGEL vanished into Dominion space. Welcome to the
ARKANGEL's main computer system, the LCARS 2000 version beta.
